Mary Powell was born and raised in Watertown, New York.  She began drawing as a small child.  Growing up in Upstate New York gave her a love and appreciation for the nature around her.  She studied various painting techniques under several local artists, but is basically self-taught.  Although Mary occasionally paints in oil and acrylics, her favorite medium is water colors.  This allows her the ability to do fine, detailed work, giving her paintings a very realistic look.

In 1982, Mary moved to Marietta, Georgia where she now resides.  She has studied Technical Illustration at The Chattahoochee Technical Institute.  Her paintings have been exhibited in numerous juried art shows and won many awards, including the Grumbacher Award for Best of Show.  Mary’s paintings are part of both private and corporate collections in the United States and abroad.
